Data projectors are available in a variety of sizes to suit any kind of event. From small meetings to full scale corporate events there is a data projector available to cater for your display requirements.

Data projectors are differentiated by the following performance factors:

· Brightness – measured in ANSI Lumens. The higher the lumen rating the brighter the projector and as such the more suitable it is for venues with high levels of natural light

· Resolution – Describes the number of pixels the projector is capable of displaying. The greater the number of pixels the sharper the projected image. Commonly seen resolutions are SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) and XGA (1024 x 768 pixels).

· Contrast ratio – Describes the ability of the projector to block out the lamp light. This translates into the depth of black projected on the screen.

Mid-sized data projectors are suitable for the following event types:

Large meetings

Small conferences

Home cinema

Data projectors for this size of event generally display the following features:

Lumen rating - Medium sized data projectors such as those suitable for events like large meetings and small conferences can have a lumen rating between 2500 and 4000 lumens. The most appropriate lumen rating for your event will depend on the ambient light levels in the event room.

High levels of features and connectivity - Many data projectors allow connection from a variety of data sources including HDMI, VGA, and USB. Some models also include audio input and speaker output capabilities allowing connection to PA systems and other audio output systems.

Considerations that should be taken into account when deciding on the most appropriate data projector to hire:

Audience size – The larger the audience the more powerful the data projector should be. Data projectors for large meetings and small conferences can cater for audiences in the of up to 100 people depending on their positioning in the room and ambient light levels.

Throw distance – Projectors vary in terms of their ability to project a clear image over certain distances. This is due to the variation in the lenses that are fitted. Be sure to inform your data projector supplier of the distance you intend to project over and the size screen you wish to fill.

Light levels – Data projectors with a lumen rating of between 2500 and 4000 lumens are capable of operating in venues with higher ambient light levels but as with any projector better results will be achieved the darker the event room. As such it is recommended that both the ambient and room light be reduced as much as possible.
