Induction Loop Hire | AV Hire

Vital for events such as public consultations, conferences and AGMs induction loops allow hearing impaired people to pick up amplified speech via their hearing aid.

As depicted in the adjacent diagram an induction loop consists of a wire encircling the area in which hearing aid users are positioned and an induction loop amplifier. An audio signal such as speech is channelled into the amplifier via a microphone or mixing desk output. The amplifier converts the signal into a magnetic field which is transmitted around the loop cable. The signal is picked up by hearing aids where it is converted back to an audio format.

Induction loops are commonly available on the AV hire market in both small and large scale formats to cater for any sized venue. It is recommended that temporary induction loops be fitted by qualified audio visual technicians.

When hiring an induction loop advise your AV hire supplier of the following details:

The shape and area of the event venue - As an induction loop requires a wire to be laid around the perimeter of the intended area of coverage it is important for your AV hire supplier to know the shape and circumference of this area. They can then supply a sufficient length of cable and suitably powerful induction loop amplifier.

The intended audio source - Induction loop amplifiers generally have an XLR input allowing direct connection of a microphone. Alternatively if a PA system is in use an audio output can be channelled directly from the mixing console allowing hearing aid users to hear the entire audio signal.
