Moving Lamp Hire | AV Hire

Hire lighting can have a significant and profound effect on any event, changing a dull space into a venue with atmosphere and excitement. Done the right way effective lighting can change the mood of any venue to suit the event, giving it a touch of class, reflecting corporate colours and turning a gathering into an event.

There is a wide variety of lighting effect units available on the hire market and all of these can add their own individual effect to a corporate event. Ranging from simple disco lights to DMX controlled moving heads there will be a lighting rig available to have a positive impact on your event.

The following items are active lighting units that are regularly available on the hire market:

Intelligent Lighting

Intelligent lighting also known as luminaires or fixtures include moving heads and washes. They are stage lights that have automated or mechanical abilities beyond those of traditional, stationary lighting such as PAR cans.

Moving heads have an extensive range of functions including assorted colour washes, pans, tilts, gobos, dimmers and effects wheels.Although they have inbuilt programmes the best results are achieved when the DMX function is utilised and an experienced show programmer and operator is employed.

Moving heads display the following benefits when used at a corporate event:

Versatile and multi-functional - Intelligent lighting effects such as moving heads are able to produce impressive lighting displays due to the large number of available functions such as assorted colour washes, pans, tilts, gobos, dimmers and effects wheels.

Creation of unique lighting shows - When in the hands of an experienced lighting technician intelligent fixtures can produce unique and memorable lighting shows that are designed to complement and enhance the on-stage activity.

When employing intelligent lighting at your event consider the following factors:

Qualified operators - To get optimal results when using intelligent lighting it is best when operated by a qualified and experienced lighting technician. As such it is recommended that you have to budget for a lighting technician to be present during your event.

DMX capabilities - Intelligent lights are equipped with DMX control capabilities and best results are achieved when used with a DMX lighting desk. Again you will have to budget for the inclusion of this equipment when deciding on the most appropriate lighting equipment for your event.

Sound to Light

Sound to light operated effect lighting is regularly available on the audio visual hire market and is more commonly used for events such as discos or parties. They offer effective results with minimal operator interaction and tend to be economical to hire.

Sound to light lighting fixtures are designed to react in response to the sound of background music and do not allow for any user operation. As such sound to light reactive lighting is ideal for smaller events where effective disco lighting that requires little user interaction is preferred rather than intelligent lighting that may require a qualified and experienced operator to get the best results. Sound to light fixtures can be mounted on free standing T bar stands or trussing and require a standard 13 amp power supply.

Sound to Light effect lighting offers users the following benefits:

Minimal user interaction - Sound to light effect lighting fixtures offer 'plug and play' operation. They simply need to be mounted, positioned and plugged in whereby they will react to background music rather than needing an experienced operator to control them.

Variety of effects available - There is a huge variety of sound to light fixtures available that offer a huge range of lighting effects, colours and patterns. Packages are available from the majority of audio visual hire suppliers that include a selction of complementary fixtures.

Cost effective lighting option - Sound to light lighting fixtures tend to be more cost effective to hire than intelligent lighting due to their less complex nature. The employment of a trained operator is not necessary and the only additional equipment required may be stands and peripherals such as haze machines.

Consider the following factors when hiring Sound to Light lighting fixtures:

Power supply -
Each Sound to Light lighting fixture you hire will require a power supply. Suitable cabling may be supplied by your audio visual hire provider but is worth considering where you intend to place the lighting rig and the access to a power point.

Effects peripherals - To get the very best effect from your hire disco lighting the use of a haze machine is advised. Haze machines produce a light haze that allows the beams of light to be seen. Be aware that certain venues do not allow the use of haze.
