Lighting Stands & Structures Hire | AV Hire

If you are intending to install effect lighting at your event then it is more than likely that you will require some form of temporary structure on which to mount it.

Temporary support structures include trussing which can be configured to fit the majority of venues and more basic T-bar or goal post lighting stands that can only support a limited number of fixtures. Depending on the type and quantity of lighting you are having installed will dictate the type of structure that is required. This page will discuss the benefits and considerations of some of the most commonly used support structures on the AV hire market.

T-bar lighting stands

T-bar lighting stands are very common on the audio visual hire market and provide basic support for up to four lighting fixtures.

The fixtures are fitted via bolts to the horizontal bar which is supported by a tripod stand. T-bar lighting stands are height adjustable up to around two metres and are secured using a pin and locking screw system. They tend to be most suitable for smaller events where the lighting does not have to cover a large area.

T-bar lighting stands offer the following benefits when used at corporate events:

Easy installation - T-bar lighting stands are easily transported and installed into the event venue with no experience required. Once the lighting fixtures are fitted to the horizontal bar two people may be required to raise the bar to the preferred position.

Economical - T-bar lighting stands provide an efficient and economical solution to positioning and supporting lighting fixtures for smaller events. They are usually the most cost efficient solution on the audio visual lighting hire market.

When using T-bar lighting stands at your event the following factors should be considered:

Potential trip hazard -
When installing T-bar lighting stands carefully consider their position in the venue as much like tripod speaker stands, tripod T-bar lighting stands are a potential trip hazard particularly if positioned close to dancefloors or thoroughfares.

Raising the bar - Once the lighting fixtures have been bolted to the T-bar section of the stand two people may be required to safely raise the bar to its intended height and secure it with the pin and bolt fitting. This is also the case when taking the lighting fixtures down.
